• Marcella Walter

    May 10, 2015
  • Marcella Walter, 98, of Hot Springs Village passed away peacefully, in her sleep on Mother’s Day May 10, 2015. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on February 17, 1917 to Henrietta and George Horsch. Raised in Hammond, Indiana, graduated Hammond High where she met and later married Kenneth Walter (1938). They had two children and moved to Dyer, Indiana where they enjoyed the rural life: gardening, raising vegetables, incredible flowers and chickens as well. When Ken retired from Lever Brothers they made the move to Hot Springs Village in 1974. They both loved the Village.  The perfect day for them was “fishing in the morning, golf in the afternoon, and bridge at night”. Marcella was a wonderful pianist and vocalist. She helped build Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church where she was active on the board, member of the choir and member of Ladies of the Sacred Heart. She loved golf with the WGA and played well into her 80’s. When she became unable to golf, bridge and her church became her main focus.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Ken and her brother, Harold Horsch of Houston, Texas. She is survived by her son, Gerald Walter (Lori) of Scottsdale, AZ; daughter Joyce Field (Oliver) of Hot Springs Village, 6 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and a niece and nephew of Houston, Texas.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 15, 2015 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Hot Springs Village.

She had a great life and surely is enjoying being reunited with all her loved ones gone before her.
